Laurie G –
These are my go to shoes I have them in four colors. They are light but full of support. Can not say enough good things about them.
Mommy2Twins –
They are super thick on the bottom, sticks out way too much. Makes me look like I have giant feet. They have a crease by the toe area. The only thing I like is the color.
CristinaM –
Overall I am happy with these sneakers, but I do find them to run more narrow than the Gel Kayano 27 model that I also have. I am hoping they will break in a bit as they feel quite snug but Ive only had them a couple weeks so far!
Beth –
These just arrived yesterday and I tried them out today on the elliptical trainer.
First impressions: The heel counter angles forward. I’m a fitness walker and a heel striker so idk how the heel counter will feel out on concrete. It’s a bit different than the 27s. The 28’s are more cushioned on the bottom and around the ankle pad and tongue. Plenty wide, though I’m a narrow medium, and lots of toe room. They seem very springy and pillow like but they also offer support though perhaps not as much ankle support as the 27s
Ride
Amazingly cushioned and comfortable. I did an extra ten minutes on my workout without any foot strain. I’d give them a 5 if they feel this good out fitness walking

These are the best Gel-Kayanos yet!! I’m not a runner, but walk and have severe overpronation. They offer the most support and cushion of any shoe you can buy hands down. Love the redesign with a lot less plastic which gives a more updated look. Thank you ASICS!!

The Kayano 28 toe box is narrower than previous models, the lower heel counter causes slipping, and the quality has declined. I have worn these shoes twice and they are already showing signs of wear and becoming unstitched. Comparatively, I wore the Kayano 24 for three years without issue.
Chris –
These are probably the best-fitting and best-looking narrows yet. I am awaiting a pair that comes in black-on-black so I can wear them with black slacks to dinner and so my misshapen foot is less obvious.

Having been wearing GelKayanos since 2001. At least one new pair/year! I feel the 28 is back to the older fit, 22 and before. They fit very well in width with generous toe box!
Love the fit this year!!!

The only true athletic shoe that comes in narrow widths. Now if only I could pick out of the cute, fun styles instead of getting one choice in color because of the narrow width!
Howard1122 –
I bought these shoes because I work in the plant and was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis for the price of the shoes I am not impressed I have had less expensive shoes with equal or possibly better comfort
Virgo F –
I do not like the Kayano 28 I purchased , Its very flat , different foot support , previous Kayano’s. This shoe totally through my back out and knee’s . The support definitely not as good, as Kayono 27,I wish I could get a refund, because I had to buy an old pair of the Kayano 27 feel great and give amazing support!

These shoes started up well but only after maybe 10 wears, the bottoms started peeling off. Now the sole gets caught on ground when running and working out.
Teach710 –
I had worn gel kayanos for years but tried a different brand which *seemed* to work for my flat feet/overpronation. However after wearing them for several months I have had increasing foot pain which I didn’t attribute to the shoes at first. Have never had foot pain before. So I have been trying different styles and am now back to Asics gel kayano 28. They’re the only shoes that give me great stability and cushiness, and so far I have no more foot pain! Order up a half size.
Pam –
I didn’t even get them both on my feet. The toe box is way to narrow. Squashed my toes together. I do not have wide feet either-my feet actually run on the narrow side. Too bad as I liked the look of these and they had decent arch support.
Mandy –
I absolutely love these shoes, they are comfortable and fit true to size. One issue with these though, the treads on the bottom are separating on each side of the shoes. It makes me trip a little on certain surfaces. I’ve tried glueing them but it didn’t work for more than a week.

This shoe is less constructed than I desire. I need more support. BUT if you don’t need really strong support then I believe you’re going to love this shoe. I rated the sneaker very highly – but it’s not constructed strongly enough for me. I need the orthopedic assists I get from orthotics and the
general shape of Asics together.

I had not tried this particular style before, but I almost only run in ASICS. I tried these on and they hit the wrong spot on the back of my heel and rubbed them raw very quickly. I have sent them back. If you don’t mind it hitting lower on your heel than the GEL-Kayano 27, then these may work well! I know everyone’s anatomy is different, these just didn’t work for me.
Cathy –
I ordered up a half size as recommended and these sneakers fit perfectly! I have a wide foot and the toe box of the wide size has lots of room.
Lucy –
I just got my kayano and I love it. It is true to size, but might be leaning on a wider side.
I just tried them on, so I do not have assessment on the performance but from ehat I can tell by just walking inside, they are so comfortable. I wanted something little bit more cushioned so my feet don’t hurt when I go on a long walk (yes, I am not a runner.) I bought the GT 1000 10 which is great, but felt little hard and hurting my feet. Kayano is a one step up without being too soft and over cushioned, because I don’t like that either.
So, now if you have almost (but not completely) flat feet like me, this shoe might work for you too. I would recommend it based on how the shoe is for me and my specific feet type and preferences.

These shoes are extremely comfortable and they have excellent support on the outside sides of my feet (I have a torn Brevis tendon I’ve been trying to heal for months). There are only two issues I have with these shoes though (and I hope Asics gets this feedback):
1. The tongue of Asics shoes are so big that the hem of my pants gets caught on them all the time, rather than my pants being able to stay hanging over the tongue when walking or moving from sitting to standing/walking. I hate that about these shoes as compared to other brands like OnClouds.
2. My heels are narrow but I need more length in a shoe because I have feet that are a half size different and I also need extra room for shoe inserts, so I feel like I’m almost walking out of these on every step (even though I have them laced through the extra holes at the top) and I am constantly pulling up my no-show socks because the heel of these shoes are so wide that the socks fall down without any shoe grip.
I am a big fan of Asics so I’ll keep buying them, but wanted to share this feedback for others.

Definitely a great buy! Comfort level is incredible. I love ASICS & how much thought y’all put behind your product!!

I stopped buying my beloved Gel-Kayano’s, 2 years ago, because the fit was off. The toe box was cramped and the shoes were too short. I would shop for the older versions that were perfect. When I could no longer find older models, I switched to Brooks. I was recently told to give the new Gel-Kayano 28 a try. I am happy I did. I have always worn a size 9 running shoe (8 in dress shoes) but had to send them back for a size 9 1/2. The shoe runs short but the toe box is roomy and the cushion is great! I run 6 – 8 miles, 4 or 5 days a week.

Thank you Asics for making the Gel Kayano in a Narrow again! Best fitting running shoe I have found, and I was so bummed when they stopped making narrows a few years ago. Now more than 1 color please? Maybe a blue or something?
Amy –
This is my second pair . I walk approximately 3 miles a day 7 day’s a week. Iwalk in sandy soil common to the desert southwest. I walk on paved trails and occasionally scramble.
These shoes are comfortable and I enjoy wearing them. I have bought this brand since they came on the market. my favorite was the 33m. But this is a close second.
I do buy wide now in asics bc they have started to make narrow in their normal width.

Haven’t worn Asics in a long time. With neuromas acting up again thought I’d try something other than the Brooks Adrenaline I’ve worn for years. The Asics Gel-Kayano 28 has a slightly wider toebox and now my neuromas, in a week, are receding. I wear inserts after two ankle surgeries, and find these running shoes (I only walk) very comfortable. Decent support, lovely teal leaning blue color.
